In order to work on the objectives, Tilla has the
following projects. These projects are funded by
national- and international donors and for each project,
there is a project manager at Tilla
responsible. | |

1.Capacity Building and Home Based Care | |

Tilla has been implementing the project in Awassa town administration and Alaba Special Woreda of SNNPRS through the technical and financial support of Pathfinder International Ethiopia (PI-E) since January 2005.
The project aims to support Tilla in the implementation of preventive education, care and support services. The project focuses mainly on HIV and AIDS prevention, care and support and advocacy activities in awassa and Alaba special woreda of SNNPRs.
Specifically, the project focuses on:
Effective ways of supporting HIV positive women and their families to practice safer sex and to confront challenges of being positive women through capacity building of the organization and its members,
Advocacy and sensitization of the public through life testimonials,
Community home based care for bed ridden aids patients through community volunteers and family members,
To support counselling & VCT service seekers and
Orphan care through school support and skill training linked with income generating activities. | |

2. Positive Action:Empowering Communities to Respond to HIV/AIDS in Hawassa and supporting new Associations across the Country | |
This is a five years project began in October 2006. Tilla is one of the five organizations targeted for Comic Relief grant intended for a group of NGOs working with people with HIV across East and Southern Africa. The Strategic Grant aimed to support Tilla to develop its infrastructure and capacity in order to Increase programming to support orphans and vulnerable children, enhance services for Tilla members, develop Tilla’s role in replicating the Association’s experience of good practice to develop other organizations, strengthened monitoring, evaluation and learning systems, and strengthened financial capacity.
The developmental objective of the project is empowering Tilla Association of Women Living with HIV to respond to HIV/AIDS & to reach its vision of seeing a society in which women and their families are empowered and living free of HIV.
Major activities of the project expand in four main areas. These are:
Coaching new organizations using Tilla’s experience and expertise
Developing new approaches to educating local communities through families
‘’graduating’’ Tilla members by providing opportunities to become independent and
Developing services for orphans and vulnerable children

3. HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Project Involving Women Living With HIV HIV | |
|
The association of has been implementing this project since 2004 with a Global & World bank fund obtained through SNNPRG BOH HIV/AIDS Sector on a yearly bases . The project has been implemented in Sidama zone /Borecha, Leku, Yirgalem and Chuko genet/ , Wolita zone in Sodo and Boditi, Gedio zone /dilla/ , Kembata Tembaro Zone /durame/, Alaba special woreda /Alaba/, Burji and Amaro special woredas (Burji and Kele) town health centers. Major activities of the project were empowering TAWLWH members through training, IEC material production and distribution & provision of life testimony for community sensitization out of Awassa and medical support for OVCs. Development objectives:
To contribute to the effort of national campaign in prevention and control of HIV/AIDS
To increase the uptake of ART Objective of the project Immediate
i. providing psychosocial and economic support to women living with HIV/AIDS and minimizing stigma and discrimination.
ii. Encouraging people to know their sero status which in turn is useful to minimize & control HIV transmission.
iii. Building the capacity of TAWLWHs members so that enable them to present their life testimony to the community in general and to vulnerable women in particular.
iv. To avoid dependency of member on the association and ensuring self reliance and sustainability. ART

4. HIV prevention focusing on high risk groups project supported by World Learning Ethiopia | |
|
Tilla has been implementing a project entitled “HIV Prevention Focusing on High Risk Groups Involving Women Living with HIV in Awassa and Alaba Special Woreda”. The project has duration of 18 months, which started on December 2007. The project is implemented with the financial and technical support of World Learning Ethiopia/USAID fund. General Objective:
The goal of the project is to prevent HIV infection among (High risk groups) these embraces girls and women who are involved in commercial sex work together with their clients. Specific objectives
To promote HIV and AIDS prevention through behavioral change activities of the targeted high risk group.
Provision of skills based knowledge to sex workers, street girls and other high risk groups.
To provide support to orphans and vulnerable children.

5. Ensuring quality HIV/AIDS services by consolidating and strengthening existing HIV/AIDS prevention, Treatment, Care and support programs supported by Global fund through NOSAP+ | |

To increase the coverage and adherence to ARV for PLWHA
Provide treatment literacy & adherence education
Reduce the vulnerability and mitigate the impacts of HIV and AIDS for PLWHA & their families
Strengthen the community and home based care services for PLHIV and their families
Creating job opportunities for PLHIV and their families
Provide food and nutritional support for adults & children with HIV and AIDS
Strengthen the implementation capacity of the network

6. Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Prevention through Community Capacity Enhancement /CCE/ Care and Support Service; & Integrated Rural Development Program Impact Mitigation supported by Goal Sidama (CORDAID & MAPs PROGRAM) | |
|
Under the general component of mitigation of impact, Tilla Association of HIV Positive Women with Goal Sidama, has been working for the last four years both in prevention and care and support activities in BoreBafano & Boricha woreda of Sidama zone. The project has major activities like food and medical support for PLWHAs, positive living and advocacy training for PLWHA members of the association,
provision of HBC services, provision of staff & member developing trainings and procurement and provision of materials and equipment.

7. Ethiopia Dairy Development Program- IGA support for Members by engaging them in animal feed retail & milk Kiosk supported by Land O’Lakes /USAID fund | |
|
This is a project implemented in Awassa town with the establishment of 5 group IGA shops benefiting 67 members of the association. The group is planned to engage in feed retail, milk kiosk & UMB production with the general objective of generating income for the members to improve their livelihoods and local economy. The group also contributes to the development of the dairy value chain by improving milk supply through provision of good quality feeds.
To increase the success of self employment strategies of AIDS orphaned youth and caregivers
To provide community youth with the safe spaces and life skills needed to support themselves and each other as they work to reduce their vulnerability to HIV.
To build the sustainable livelihood for AIDS orphans & care givers by increasing vocational employment and self employment skills and earnings of AIDS orphaned

8.Building Sustainable Livelihoods for AIDS Orphans and Caregivers in Uganda & Ethiopia / CAPAIDS (Canada Africa Partnership on AIDS) program | |
|
Major objective: to build sustainable livelihood for people effected and affected by HIV Developmental objectives/specific objectives:
To build capacity of community based HIV and AIDS organizations so that they can offer sustained livelihood supports to people effected & affected by HIV and AIDS
To enhance the capacity of orphaned youth and orphaned caregivers to provide for them and their dependants by enabling vocational skill and pursue employment
To increase the success of self employment strategies of AIDS orphaned youth and caregivers
To provide community youth with the safe spaces and life skills needed to support themselves and each other as they work to reduce their vulnerability to HIV.
To build the sustainable livelihood for AIDS orphans & care givers by increasing vocational employment and self employment skills and earnings of AIDS orphaned

9. Community Outreach & Social Mobilization on HIV Prevention Project supported by NASTAD (National Alliance of State & Territorial AIDS Directors) | |
|
Overall Objective: To mitigate the spread of HIV to sex partners, and infants born to HIV-infected mothers, as well as protect the health of infected individuals Major activity areas:
Strengthening Positive Prevention programs for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV)
Strengthening targeted HIV prevention programs for groups that have been identified at high risk for HIV infection: commercial sex workers and daily labourers.
Implement Voluntary Community Anti-AIDS Program (VCAP) through partnering with Hawassa City Administration Health Department

10.Y-CHOICES Project (Youth & Children Health Options Involving Community) | |
|
Tilla association is also involved in tackling the issue of increasing numbers of youths affected by HIV/AIDS through implementing the Y-CHOICES project (Youth and Children Health Options Involving Community Strategies) or HIV/AIDS for Adolescents and Children project in Kembata Tembaro zone, Alaba special woreda and Awassa town. The project mainly focuses on 7 secondary schools found in the three areas ( 2 in Alaba and Awassa and 5 in Kembata Tembaro zones and 13 outreach primary schools found in the areas), 7 Idirs, and 7 out of school clubs. The project’s goal is to reduce the rates of HIV infection in men and women aged 10-24 years. Major objectives of the project are:
Promote decreased sexual activities among youth, families and communities through the provision of skills-based knowledge and capacity for youth.
Scale up and expand community-focused programs for communication education behaviour change and reduction of HIV transmission.
Improve and strengthen the environment for family discourse on social issues critical to HIV prevention by youth and their communities.
Increasing the take of ART
11.Creating independence opportunities for Tilla members project /CRDA/
This project will offer members training opportunities and small capital grants and loans and technical support to set up businesses, so that they have the opportunity to become independent of Tilla, thus allowing other women to join the Association. This project will not only help the immediate beneficiaries but the children and families of the beneficiaries. The specific objective of the project is to:
To identify the needs and aspirations of Tilla Members to generate their own incomes
To set up training opportunities for Tilla Members.
To set up business opportunities for Members to generate their own income
